I know, we’re MIA!

June 4th, 2008

But we’ve been on vacation and my fiance just left to go fishing up in Alaska for several months, so I’m adjusting to pseudo-singledom, which is much harder than I thought.

However, new photos are forthcoming.

And if you have any great ones of yourself that you’re just dying to post, message me! Strut your style!

Cheers.

Hawthorne in the Evening

May 6th, 2008

purple jacket, handmade jacket, and far-off look

These cool kids were walking down SE Hawthorne and 21st when I spotted them from the road–we (my quasi-husband and I–he’s the IT guy) were on a scouting mission, and I made Evan pull over. “What am I going to say???” I asked.

“Just start running down the street yelling ‘Heeeeyyyyyyyyy yyyyyyyooooooooouuuuuuuuu ggggggguuuuuuuuyyyyyyyyyyyyssssssssss.’ That’ll get them to stop.”

Needless to say, I got the pic. They are Daniel, Alexa, and Zecki, in that order. They gave me chocolate and thought I was joking when I said I wanted to take their photo for a style site. We traded websites–they’ve got two bands that you can hear on MySpace- Pregnant Music and zecki am sun, and if you like Four Tet, Mono, Brian Eno, Múm, and a whole lot of great original sounds, check them out. Anything post-rock, electronica, indie, and/or ambient is good in my book.

Alexa has a great handmade jacket by naik fur, which is a Sacramento-based label that you can find at Atelier, a vintage and handmade boutique and dressmaking studio. The work is done by Amy Hemmens, and as I myself am an avid fan, proponent, and creator of handmade work, I have to say that her pieces are beautiful.

Outside Powell’s in the Pearl

May 6th, 2008

I went scouting for folks today, and after endless searching I saw Eve sitting on a bench near Powell’s. She’s got an incredible fashion sense and great hair, and was a model until she got sick of the stringent size and not piercing/tattoo requirements- she’s got some awesome tats! Now she models as a hobby, and was kind enough to indulge me by posing for a shot. Eve’s sporting a Puma messenger bag, red ruby slippers, and skinny jeans that accentuate her long legs.

Happy Cinco de Mayo!

May 5th, 2008

I have yet to post anything today, but I may hit the streets later tonight to get some low-light photos on here.  In order to satisfy your creative tastes I’m posting some of my favorite off-the-grid fashion sites:

The Coveted: Especially for photography lovers and DIY types (think: hand-dyed gradient tights), this site is beautiful.

Copenhagen Street Style: Just flippin’ fun.

Debutante Clothing: Vintage fanatics beware: you will become obsessed.

Stay tuned for more!

Chanel vintage spectators and Japanese mushroom cardigan.

In the five minutes I spent with Julia, I learned that she is a writer, like myself, loves fashion blogs, and has great taste in shoes! She’s wearing Chanel vintage spectators paired with a Japanese mushroom cardigan, UNIQLO dress, and Gap tee.

Soakin’ Up the Sun

Cool in cap and jeans.

Although he said that his style centers around what’s clean, it’s obvious that Dylan knows a thing or two about aesthetics.  Not surprisingly, I found Dylan online at his site, where you can see some of his gorgeous photography.

A Beautiful Day on Belmont…

May 4th, 2008

Sweet wool cap and v-neck tee.

NOT the American Apparel v-neck!

Eli was sitting on the corner of SE 33rd and Belmont drinking an espresso and enjoying a glorious (but rare!) sunny afternoon when I walked by. He good-naturedly agreed to let me take his picture, and we exchanged cards. Eli makes Lemolo bags, which are these über-cool bike bags of all shapes, colors, and sizes. To learn more about Lemolos, check out Eli’s blog.
